Designed by starchitect Jean Nouvel, this glass temple in Mitte has been serving Berlin’s fashion faithful for more than a decade. The store’s 8000 square meters of luxury are jam-packed with product from world-renowned designers including Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent, John Galliano, Jean-Paul Gaultier and countless others.
After exhausting yourself modeling menswear from Daniel Crémieux, womenswear from René Derhy, and delicious dessous from Agent Provocateur, you can revive body and soul downstairs with Gallic delicacies from the Lafayette Gourmet and littérature française from their well-stocked bookshop.
Named after Paris’ rue La Fayette, site of its founding in 1893, the Galeries Lafayette is a fashion institution; its flagship store on the Boulevard Haussmann in Paris attracts as many visitors each year as the Eiffel Tower.
With the 1996 opening of the branch in Mitte, the fashion retailer paid homage to Berlin’s growing role as a center of contemporary fashion and design.
